With deep sorrow I share with you the news of the passing of another member of the TSA family. Yesterday, we learned that Miami International Airport (MIA) STSO Victor Chung passed away due to complications of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
For more than 17 years, Victor dedicated his career to TSA and our aviation security mission. He was an integral member of the Miami team and will not be forgotten by those who knew him.
Victor first joined TSA in September of 2002 after a career working in the Department of Agriculture. He served as an STSO in Miami, where he oversaw the successful implementation of our passenger screening operations and later baggage operations, including the successful implementation of MIA’s first inline baggage system. Every day, he worked closely with his Officers and TSA’s partners to ensure our security mission was successfully carried out. Victor was known to his colleagues as a compassionate leader, always willing to support his Officers in their time of need.
Information about Victor’s life will be added to the TSA In Memoriam page, which is dedicated to the memory of those we have tragically lost to COVID-19.
As a reminder, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free and confidential service available to TSA employees who feel they may benefit from the guidance and support of a licensed counselor during this difficult time. The EAP is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and can be reached at 1-800-222-0364 (TTY 1-888-262-7848) or online at FOH4you.com. You can find more information on Human Capital’s TSA Workforce Programs website.
Please join me in remembering Victor and recognizing his service to our country and to the American people.
