The FSU has begun to distribute Face Shields to personnel. These shields are to be signed for and contrary to the markings they are not to be disposed of. One face shield is to be assigned to each person working. They can be cleaned and reused. Personnel should still be wearing face masks with the shields for maximum protection. There is a trick that hockey players use to prevent fogging of the shields. You take a little shampoo on a cloth and rub it on and buff until clear. Also there are anti fog sprays.
You may see on social media that some airports installed Plexiglas on the TDC podiums. That was discussed and passengers often come to the side of the TDC thus making the Plexiglas useless. We opted for the face shields as it would give officers the best protection in all positions worked not just TDC.
If there is breakage of the face shield please notify your supervisor who will contact the RaD for replacement. Use this as part of your uniform now and protect it as you would anything else.
