Good Afternoon Team,
As alluded to during the DADM’s townhall meeting yesterday, HR policy changes are forthcoming that will correlate to a gradual, but deliberate return to normal operations for TSA. The first policy change will address our High Risk designated employees. Effective 28 Jun, 2020 Weather and Safety leave will expire for all High Risk employees at LGA Hub and Spoke airports.
· As TSA works towards recovery across the enterprise, we have seen a number of critical elements come into place that enhance the operating environment. With the improved availability of personal protective equipment, the establishment of procedures to enhance social distancing and minimize touch, and the progress towards completing a virtual shift bid to enable the workforce to have predictable schedules for the coming months, TSA is returning to a more predictable and regular operational tempo. As operations normalize, TSA can return to standard absence and leave policies.
· The change in Weather and Safety leave for High Risk employees closely coincides with the effective date of the new shift bid, which is the July 4th weekend for most airports. Employees currently on Weather and Safety leave in high risk categories will be able to use existing policies for requesting absences and leave. Specific details will be available within the next week, to include frequently asked questions (FAQs).
· The health and well-being of our employees is critical, and will be fully supported through existing absence and leave policies, to include the reasonable accommodation process.
· Weather and safety leave for standby purposes remains unchanged.
Please pose any questions to LGA/HR at LGA.HighRisk@tsa.dhs.gov.
