DATE:       March 23, 2020

TO:           All Personnel at LGA, HPN, ISP, SWF

FROM:     Robert A. Duffy, Federal Security Director, LGA, HPN, ISP, SWF

SUBJECT: Coronavirus

Late this afternoon, we received notification that a TSA officer assigned to Terminal B, Concourse C 1stShift has tested positive for COVID-19.  This brings our total COVID-19 positive cases at LGA to two.

The officer last worked on Saturday, March 7th and is currently at home recovering. Because it has been 16 days since the officer last worked, there is no further action to be taken per TSA Chief Medical Officer Dr. Fabrice Czarnecki.  As a precaution, the Terminal B, Concourse C checkpoint was thoroughly disinfected on Sunday, March 22.

We have been in contact with the officer, the NYC Department of Health, TSA HQ, PANYNJ, American Airlines and AFGE. If you have any questions, please see your supervisor or TSM and follow CDC guidelines for prevention by maintaining social distancing, maintaining good hygiene through hand cleaning, and wearing gloves at all times. Surgical masks are now available for anyone who wants to wear one. As a continuing reminder, cover your face when coughing or sneezing and don’t touch your face. Stay out of work if you don’t feel well and see a doctor if necessary and do your best to stay at 6 feet apart from other people.

We will continue to keep you informed of all developments and new information.  Be assured that there are a lot of very smart people e working day and night to find a cure for coronavirus.  We have made it through other challenges in our lives whether it was from illnesses such as H1N1 Swine Flu, SARS, MERS, natural disasters such as blizzards and Hurricane Sandy and the Government shutdown.  We will persevere through coronavirus as well.

Look out for each other and keep your heads up.  Thank you all for your continued commitment.
