Coronavirus-COVID-19 TSO

To LGA Workforce

From Robert Duffy, Federal Security Director, LGA HPN, ISP, SWF

Subject: CORONAVIRUS-COVID-19

Date: Saturday, March 21st, 2020

Today, we received notification that a TSA officer assigned to Terminal B, Concourse C 2nd Shift has tested positive for COVID-19.

The officer last worked on Saturday, March 14th. The officer is currently at home recovering. We are presently reviewing the shift schedule, Kronos, and CCTV coverage to determine those that may be at risk of exposure so they can be notified immediately.  All personnel who were in contact with the officer will be sent home and placed on a 14-day quarantine from the date of potential exposure. Those officers should contact their medical providers and will be placed in a paid status during their quarantine period.

The Concourse C Checkpoint and United Lower Baggage Room were thoroughly cleaned last night by LaGuardia Gateway Partners (LGP) as a preventive measure before our notification this morning. Based on the notification today, we have asked LGP to once again disinfect Concourse C and the baggage room.

We have been in contact with the officer, the NYC Department of Health, TSA HQ, PANYNJ, American Airlines and AFGE. If you have any questions, please see your supervisor or TSM and follow CDC guidelines for prevention by maintaining social distancing, maintaining good hygiene through hand cleaning, and wearing gloves at all times. Surgical masks are now available for anyone who wants to wear one. As a continuing reminder, cover your face when coughing or sneezing and don’t touch your face. Stay out of work if you don’t feel well and see a doctor if necessary.

We will continue to keep you informed of all developments and new information.

Thank you all for your continued commitment.

Robert Duffy

Federal Security Director
