FSD's WEEKLY MEMO TO THE WORKFORCE

DATE:       November 19, 2021

TO:           All Personnel: LGA, HPN, ISP, SWF

FROM:     Robert A. Duffy, Federal Security Director: LGA, HPN, ISP, SWF

SUBJECT: Weekly Memo

I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Birthday today as we celebrate the 20th birthday of the Transportation Security Administration. It was twenty years ago today that President George W. Bush signed into law the Aviation Transportation Security Act (ATSA).  That law created our TSA.

You should all be very proud of the fact that you have made a significant contribution to security of the United States in our role as a counter-terrorism agency.  Through your collective hard work, teamwork, dedication to mission, devotion to duty and ever present vigilance, we have defended our Nation from acts of terrorism targeting commercial aviation.  While we have been successful for the past twenty years, we can never let up on our constant vigilance and attention to detail.  We have millions of people placing their trust, confidence and most importantly, their lives, in our hands.  We will never let them down.

Over the past twenty years we have significantly changed as an agency.  Our uniforms are different, most of the technology is far more advanced, our training and procedures are far more effective and our administration practices have greatly improved.  One thing that has not changed is the determination of our entire workforce to work together as a team to defend our Nation against terrorism.

Behold your history and be proud, for today you are a part of it.

Thank you for your unwavering service.

Respectfully,

Bob Duffy
