Good afternoon Team LGA, HPN, ISP and SWF,
It
is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of LGA TSO Shamiqua
Blue. Shamiqua started her career with TSA on April 6, 2014. During
Shamiqua’s time as a member of our agency, she was a valuable, positive, and
engaging officer, who was always committed to the TSA Mission. Her unexpected
passing is a shock to all of us.
I
also want to remind everyone that TSA’s Employee Assistance Program is always
available. The EAP program is a free, confidential resource that provides
counseling services to TSA employees and their families. The EAP phone
number is 1-800-222-0364. Please make sure
that anyone you see who may need counseling services is aware of this free
service. We do not yet have information on funeral arrangements.
We will pass those along as soon as we have them.
In
accordance with TSA MD 1100.73-2, I am authorizing the wearing of Mourning
Bands for LGA employees in order to honor the memory of TSO Blue.
Mourning Bands are authorized to be worn effective immediately through a date
to be determined, pending funeral arrangements. (Per MD:
"Mourning Band: A black band, not to exceed one-half inch in width, worn
horizontally centered on the TSO metal badges at the most narrow point that may
be worn in memory of deceased employees and for other National mourning
declarations.")
During
this difficult time please keep Shamiqua and her family in your thoughts and
prayers.
With great sorrow,
Robert A. Duffy
TSA Acting Federal Security Director
