Last night, the President signed a continuing resolution restoring funding for the government through February 8. I recognize that for many of our employees and those we serve, any lapse in appropriation, no matter how brief, results in disruption and uncertainty.
The Department’s mission of protecting the homeland remains as important as ever. All of our personnel, whether they were exempt or not, perform work that is critically important to this Department and this country. We need each of you to be successful in our mission and appreciate your professionalism and patience during this time.
As we resume normal operations, you may have questions about the impact of this furlough, including about your pay. Department leadership officials are working closely with OMB and OPM to bring you answers as quickly as possible. If you have any immediate questions, please talk with your supervisor.
