NEW ATTENDANCE POLICY for MTA cleaning program and Grace Period

Good Afternoon Team,

We are experiencing an unexpected increase in the number of employees arriving late for work on 1st Shift at LGA.  In addition, we are starting to see a steady climb in passenger throughput, particularly on 1stShift.  Fewer employees to start 1st Shift and more passengers is translating into increased stress on those that are arriving on time for their 1st Shift duty.  This situation is not sustainable in the long-term and needs to change.

Effective on Wed, 19 August 2020, those employees who arrive late for their assigned shift due to MTA issues on 1st Shift will no longer be eligible to receive Weather & Safety Leave for the time missed.  Employees will have the option to use ALV or LWOP to account for their missed time, and will not be held accountable from a discipline perspective for any late occurrence relating to the NYC MTA cleaning program.  Employees are expected to seek alternative means to arrive at work on time.

In addition, LGA’s traffic, parking and roadway situation has improved substantially over the past 90 days.  For this reason, there is no justification for extending the 14-minute Grace Period that was established 11 months ago to account for frequent traffic delays and parking uncertainty.

Effective on Wed, 19 August 2020, the 14-minute Grace Period for late arriving employees due to traffic and parking difficulties will expire.  All employees arriving to work via a bus or automobile are expected to be in place at their duty position at the start of their shift.  Normal attendance rules will apply.

Please ensure widest dissemination of this information.
